I'm thinking i should have one big ospf thread lol. I've got 2 routers R2 and R5 connected via a FR cloud, both setup as ospf network type point-to-multipoint, broadcast capability is added R5's dlci and R2s dlci is just unicast. Interestingly enough the adjacency establishes and drop after dead interval expires and cycles…
Below i've tested different ways to filter routes from entering the rib. 1) Using standard access-list and distribute in, which worked as expected. 2) Using a route-map which matches using an extended access-list, which worked as expected. 3) Using an extended access-list with the distribute command, which didn't work. The…
I've been playing around with TransitCapabilty and i'm wondering why does the ABR terminating a VL sends router LSAs with the V-bit set. The V-bit is supposedly used to tell other routers within the area that the area is a transit area. Now why do the other routers need to know the area is transit? In my testing as far as…
Wayne Lawson from iPExpert did some good analysis and breakdown here recently to answer the question. iPexpert Founder Wayne Lawson – Looking For a Job :: Undercover Boss « Uncategorized « CCIE Blog Thing that surprised me the most in this was the amount of demand in Texas
Just thought i'd post my findings. If you read about the routing bit you will learn its cisco proprietary and locally significant. It's useful for troubleshooting when multiple summary or external LSA's contain the same prefix, it will show which LSA is preferred by ospf. Now, while investigating this i was seeing…
Hello, I'm from North NJ area. Are there any group sessions I can join around the area to prepare for CCIE voice? Please let me know. Thank you,
Hello, As I am a CCNP voice at the time and have about 5-6 years of experience in the field. I have worked previously in deployments, support, pre sales etc. I currently work as a Sr level engineer and do a good job at it. Having said that. I want to complete my CCIE collaboration to seal my technical expertise and make it…
https://www.flickr.com/photos/117689526@N08/12594740014/ I'm interested in the subnet 10.108.1.0/24, which is the point-to-point link between R8 and R10. This prefix will be summarized from area 3 into the backbone as a type 3 lsa. R3 will receive the type 3 lsa in area 0 and advertise it as a type 3 lsa to area 4. So both…
I'm just curious about you CCIE cert holders how many of you went strait into CCIE studies after obtaining NP level certs. To word that more specifically... How many of you never chased after any other outside of Cisco field of study and only held to your Cisco roots? Just a fun little statistical question...
I don't see the use in this command, by setting the priority to 0, you can delay sending hello's to a neighbor, but the remote neighbor's interface priority will still take precedence and influence the election. Anyone have any idea what this command can be used for?
