How bout this?

I picked up a dual P3 slot one MB on ebay a few days ago.

Anyway, the guy is claiming blue screens and keyboard lockups.. I dont have a case yet to test it out, but I wanna see what you guys think K?

It is a 100/133 board. with two 500/512/100/2.0V S1 Intel P3 processors

It has 4 different sticks of RAM

Kingston KVR1000X64C2/128 CE memory
Kingston KVR-PC100/128-R memory
Lei 38L5JS00-1HAG 512MB 64x64 PC133 memory module
SII 512M PC-133 0S620146A memory module

Think its the memory? I mean it could be anything, but a bad memory combination sounds like a culprit

What do you think?

Close enough to be a good place to start.

Of course it could also be a case of bad memory mapping & the OS needs a reinstall.

Are you running the bus at 100mhz or 133mhz? If it's running at 133, those PC-100 sticks need to go

The processors are 100 meg processors, and the board autodetects the bus speed, so I am assuming 100 meg. So I would think the 133's gotta go.

Why ditch the 133's? Unless there is a memory mapping conflict they should just run at the throttled down 100 speed.

OH yeah, forgot about that.. They are 512 each too. the 100's are 128 each..

No probs. I have had conflicts once or twice, but that was usually how Windows maps against the memory and not a problem with the memory per se. Usually I find the offending stick and swap it into a different machine and all is good.

Who needs a case? A power supply and a screwdriver is enough to fire that puppy up (short the power switch pins for just a second and it will start up).

I would remove the two 128 meg sticks and see how it works (being optimistic that you will be able to start with a gig of memory..) If setup doesn't crash installing windows you can probably add the other sticks one at a time.

Do a web search for "memtest". A good little utility that can test system memory.

Where would I get a power supply?

I could pull it outta my wifes computer (EEEEEeeeeeKKKKkkkkkkkk)

Or I (he) could (hehe), pull it outtta (hehe) my (he) computer..

I will just hand tight. till i get it all. tooo much of a pain in the arse to remove a powersupply, let alone my video card.

Wait.. I forgot.. I have an old at case in my closet. all i need is a drill and a soldering iron and were in business. Who needs p1's and p8's and 9's.. I will just hardwire the MB to the power supply.. just set the MB in the case and drill right through the MB mounting points... Hehehe icon_twisted.gif
