3560 garble on boot up ?
hey guys I just bough this 3560 router on ebay when it comes up on my 2511 using of course reverse telnet, it looks garblie like those funky ASII symbols I hope it is okay. is it some kind of speed issue with telnet? maybe it was set to some kind of another speed that my 2511 doesn't recognize can I log in as console and set another telnet speed? help guys I don't want to send it back! I got stuff to study

If the console settings on the router are different from the settings on the computer, the output on the screen would be a jumble of strange characters. In such cases, try all the possible baud rates to see what baud rate the router is ready to communicate on.
You may want to change the baud rate back to the default value, 9600.
The command to make this change on the router/switch is:
(config)# line console 0
(config-line)# speed 9600Bachelor of Science in Information Systems

theodoxa Member Posts: 1,340 ■■■■□□□□□□If 9600 doesn't work, try 115200 [which seems to have been what it was in this case ^^^]. I have had several switches come with the BAUD set to 115200. I suspect it is because HBOOT (Switch version of ROMMON) only supports XModem (no TFTP) for installing IOS on a switch with no or corrupt IOS. So, people will max it out to speed up and the transfer and forget to set it back.R&S: CCENT → CCNA → CCNP → CCIE [ ]
