Crystal Reports

Hey guys,

I may be starting a new position soon, and they use Crystal Reports for their database software. Does anyone have any experience with this, and if you do could you point me in the right direction as how to go about teaching myself this software.

I don't know what the best book is, but I started with an earlier version of the Dummies book about 10 years ago and I've written hundreds of reports using MS SQL, Oracle, Access, Betrieve and Ctree databases.

Gene might want to pop on YouTube and review some tutorials. I had an interview about 2 years ago and one of the big sticking points was the use of Cognos, which at the time I never had used. After reviewing the high level basics it really wasn't that difficult to use.

Have you used other reporting services before? (BOXI, Cognos, SSRS)? If so the transition shouldn't be too bad.

I went out to Pluralsight since I have a subscription and didn't see any material.

I've not downloaded the free trial, but it may be something worth looking into.

I've used this and it was okay, nothing close to cbt nuggets though. Then again, I don't really like Crystal Reports.

We use Crystal Reports with our new database per the vendor. I am in the very early stages of figuring it out. Good luck finding others that do. Seems to be pretty rare in my experience.

I bought (had office buy) a Crystal Reports 10 For Dummies and Crystal Reports Encyclopedia Professional XI Reports books in case I need them.

Hope you know SQL.
