Monitoring Tools

in Off-Topic
We currently use Host Monitor as our monitoring tool at work. We would like to add a new one that will be installed on a Linux server and free if possible. I was just wondering what you guys use at work or what you have used in the past that worked great for you.. looking for suggestions

Currently using both Nagios and Sensu at work, both Linux both free. Check them out.

First question would be what the environment looks like and what is the extent of monitoring you are looking for. Although all I use is commercial tools, every time "free" comes up Nagios seems to be one of the clear winners. Lots of threads here regarding this can provide insight. -

@cyberguypr, we're looking to monitor everything. From Windows servers to web applications, our VMware environment. Right now we're leaning towards Zabbix. Thanks for your suggestions. -

I also recently started playing around with Shinken. So far - it looks pretty decent.
