To be a system administrator, you have to achieve the MCSA certificate. Click the below link for more & clear details:
    MCSA: Windows Server | Microsoft

As far as I know, each exam would cost $150.00 USD. You can still search for vouchers with 10% less.

Networked systems are usually going to be server operating systems that support the enterprise or a service provider. I would sadly focusing on Linux or Microsoft server operating systems and services (email, storage, directory, DNS, DHCP, etc.).

Network engineering would be more related to Cisco, Juniper, Brocade, Alcatel-Lucent, etc. certifications.
    CISSP, CCNA SP
Bachelors of Science in Telecommunications - Mt. Sierra College
Masters of Networking and Communications Management, Focus in Wireless - Keller

for Systems administration look towards the MCSA exams from Microsoft or maybe RHCE from Red Hat

for Network administration look towards CCNA from Cisco or other network vendors certifications
