Stanly CC course 5.1 - should I use 5.5 or 5.1 book
SteveFer
I've signed up for the Stanly course a few months ago, and anticipate being in the August term , I bought Scott Lowes mastering 5.5 book and realised that the Stanly course is 5.1 after I purchased, will this make a big difference, should I use the 5.1 book?

Pay attention to the differences. You want to learn what you "can't" do in 5.1

Is there a huge amount of difference ? Should I buy the 5.1 book and just use that instead ?

This is an interesting question that I kind of feel the same way. I bought Scott Lowe's 5.5 book too so I guess it would be nice to know if I'd be kicking myself in the foot with the different content....
I'm also probably going to be in the August batch too.

It really depends more on the exam you are going to take, VCP510 or VCP550. The course itself is just an overview of the technology based on 5.1.

I had intended to take the 550 as its the latest, but hadn't realised the Stanley course was 5.1, so now I'm starting to think about doing the 510 instead, what's also pushing me towards the 510 is that that there are more resources (cbt videos etc) available for that vs 5.5, as I have no Vmware experience I think I'll need more than just the mastering book and course, although I won't be taking the exam until at least the end of the year as I'm studying MCSA now so I wonder if there will be more 5.5 resources then.

The labs are not yet available for our online lab utility for 5.50. Most likely it will be late fall 2014 or spring 2015 before we are able to move to the 5.50 curriculum.

If you took a class for VCP510, would you be allowed to take the VCP550 exam?
