I will be setting up a beginners virtualization lab. Can you please tell me if this is the right approach?

How disks are used in my VM server setup?
Windows OS: install on the entire 1TB HD. Then install VMWareworkstation. Should I partition my HD?
data: vms installed on 120GB SSD

I plan to follow the VMWare vSphere Lab in VMware workstation by ESX Virtualization | VMware ESXi, vSphere, DR... how-to, videos....
I have a technet subscription and plan on installing Windows Server 2012 for DNS, Active Directory and eventually a Cisco Router.

My PC specs are:
3.60 gigahertz AMD FX-4100 Quad-Core
16GB RAM
OCZ-VERTEX3 120GB
1TB HD

Install VMware Worktation to C: (SATA Disk)
Place your VMs on SSD disk.

That's a good start. I wouldn't bother partitioning anything in this case. Eventually you will want more SSD space so make sure you learn how to use VM templates based on linked clones in Workstation, it will save you a lot of SSD space. Also if using Windows 8.1 as your host OS consider looking into enabling deduplication on your SSD volume which will again provide you massive SSD disk savings.

Let us know how you go.
