Defcon 2014

NovaHaxNovaHax Member Posts: 502 ■■■■□□□□□□
Only 2 months away. Guess its time to ask the question again. Who is gonna be there?

I'll be at DEFCON and Las Vegas B-Sides. I'm not wasting my convention budget on BlackHat.

Already booked for Black Hat Trainings, Briefings, and DEFCON. I wouldn't mind attending a B-Sides for once.

I would love to go and be a goon again but I don't think I have enough time this year. Being that I have a new job and a wedding this year, I just don't really have the bandwidth

This is sad, but I couldn't remember what I signed up for so I had to go digging for the info. I apparently signed up for The Shellcode Lab and Linux Lockdown and Proactive Security 2-day classes.

Hmm - I hadn't considered B-sides - I'll have to think about that. I will probably stop by DefCon to do my usual tourist thing icon_smile.gif

@Iristheangel - I hear it's very popular to have weddings in Vegas icon_smile.gif

@docrice - sounds like you have quite the agenda planned. Don't forget to have fun icon_smile.gif

Certainly cheaper than what it's running me if I just got Elvis to give us the vows in the drive thru. Sadly, it wouldn't be legal in that state icon_sad.gif

On a positive note...you probably don't want your anniversary to collide with DEFCON each year anyways... Congrats!!!

Is it true that every IT pro should try to go to at least one defcon in their lifetime?
Also, roughly how much does it cost? tickets+airfair+hotel....

I had fun at DefCon 6, 11 was boring, haven't been since.

    Once should be fun.

Bazinga. Cuz 2006 was so awesome! ROFL

...seriously, of the 34 years I've been on this earth, 2006 is hands down the year I would NOT want to go back to (or through)

I'm still somewhat recovering from Black Hat and DEFCON this year. Although the weather wasn't as hot as in the past, I still felt heat-stroked somewhat. I think one of my favorite talks was the War Kitteh and Denial of Service Dog (https://www.defcon.org/html/defcon-22/dc-22-speakers.html#Bransfield), just for its entertainment value.

Lots of Black Hat videos online:

I thought Dan Geer's keynote was good:

For those of you who love network forensics, the packet captures from the DEFCON 22 CTF are now available.

Also check out the tracks from the DEFCON 22 music CD.

I haven't opened the pcaps from the CTF but was the scenario multiple blue/red teams or a 1v1?

Sad day icon_sad.gif. Just now saw that this thread actually picked up speed before the event. Wish I would've looked at it at some point earlier...would've hit some of you guys up.

Weaponizing Your Pets by Gene Bransfield was a lot of fun:
