Negotiate for higher pay?

I came from a interview for a technician role and the interviewer stated the pay is between $10-$12 a hour. I failed to negotiate for higher pay since I told him I was okay with the pay. I should be meeting with the interviewer's boss Thursday morning; should I negotiate then or leave the matter alone since I didn't bring it up to begin with?

But I were you though, I would make sure you get no less than $12. Shoot for $15 and let them meet you halfway worsecase. You never know
I started at $11 an hour at a Wall St firm. But then again this was 3 years ago with only A+ and N+ as a young student at BMCC.
use this as a stepping stone. You shouldn't be there for longer than a year if you study and focus more.

Started in IT back in 2009 at an internship and then done some contract and then worked for several Fortune 500 companies. So far I'm currently a contractor for a small business company doing technical support. -

bhcs2014 Member Posts: 103You have years of experience and live and NYC and are about to take 12 an hour? I know you can do better than this.

RHEL Member Posts: 195 ■■■□□□□□□□You can do better than that... There's online jobs where you work whenever you want simply rating search results that pay $14/hr. I do it on the side for some extra play money. I guarantee it'd be better than tech support.
Even so, pardon my ignorance, but how does one live on such a salary in NYC? I recently had to turn down my dream job w/ the feds because a massive paycut to $70K/yr in NYC wouldn't allow me to stay above water on bills.
I guess it all comes down to what's left over... I clearly have a lot of bills, requiring a higher salary to stay afloat. If one has enough money left over at $10-12/hr to survive, then I guess its all the same. Seriously though, how do you make that work??? -
Fidelity Member Posts: 43 ■■□□□□□□□□$12 an hour with 5 years experience? Do you have absolutely no ambition? That's crazy! I'd be asking for $18 an hour AT LEAST and the cost of living in my state is probably 50% of what it is in NYC...
You ABSOLUTELY should negotiate for more pay. I would never accept that job for that wage especially in your area. -

Don't worry, this doesn't mean I'll take what they're offering. Just need people's thoughts on this. Thanks. -
puertorico1985 Member Posts: 205With 5 years of experience, you should be asking for a lot more in my opinion. I didn't see any mention of a degree in this post, but even so, $12 is peanuts, and while I do not live in NY, I can't imagine that being a livable wage there.
