Hi all... I'm speaking with a recruiter tomorrow about a position at Cerner... curious to know if any of you currently work for them or have worked for them in the past? If so, what are your thoughts about the company?
Thanks,
Frank

RHEL Member Posts: 195 ■■■□□□□□□□I'm originally from Missouri and many of my friends from college work for Cerner. I know that for mid-senior tier positions, pay is decent and things are pretty nice. I also know that for entry level and college grads, they work you to death, don't pay enough, and work life balance is non-existent.

TomkoTech Member Posts: 438I can't say what working there is like. However I have had to work with their tech people, and for the ones I worked with they were very competent, and easy to work with.

down77 Member Posts: 1,009I work with a number of Cerner consultants in many states. The most frequent complaints I have heard is lack of training on various technologies (Brocade, EMC, HP, etc) and the travel schedule for engagements. I have to admit these complaints are true with many organizations so YMMV.
As long as the compensation package is to your liking, and you are able to handle the frequent travel, then by all means pursue the position.CCIE Sec: Starting Nov 11 -

This has me a little concerned... however, I'm not afraid of work... I'm looking for experience as this is something I lack as a recent college grad. Then again.. the pay needs to be decent (relative to my needs) to make the move from Phoenix to Missouri. I do appreciate the information. Tomorrow we are supposed to go over the job details and then some HR questions. Since this is my first time dealing with a recruiter... I'm guessing this is a the "weed out" phase and if I'm interested and want to pursue the job... a technical interview would be next?
Even though I'm old and crusty.(42).. lol ...this is my very 1st interview in a sense as I'm retired from the military. Any tips/pointers .... or questions I should ask?
Thanks again all for the help/information. Very useful and appreciated!

With a little research... mixed reviews on working for the company. However, I would imagine this would be the same for most businesses.... some love it...some do not.
This is my 1st phone interview/interview... I'm sure it will be a learning experience.
Thanks again for the info.

Hatch1921 Member Posts: 257 ■■■■□□□□□□The phone interview went well...I think?
The questions pretty much followed the STAR format. Very basic Linux/Windows/Hardware/Networking questions...
So... waiting to find out if there will be another interview. I believe they fly you out to KC for the next stage ...
So far ...so good... will know more soon.
