Job nightmare!

Since January, I have been working with a guy who went to my church as a PC repair helper. He would text me and tell me when he needed help with a client. Around Marchish he quit texting me in. Finals were coming up as well as certification testing, so he knew that I had my own problems. I would text him every now and then to see if he needed help, but he would never respond. He read all my messages (read receipts) but never answered me. Now almost July, I haven't worked since March. I don't want to alienate him, because there aren't many IT jobs around, and I'm not even 16 yet. I do want to ask him if I am still valuable to him and if he wants to keep me, but I don't know how. Sorry if any of that was hard to understand.

Could be his business is expanding and he was looking for a more someone with more experience or a full time employee maybe? I assume that if you are 15 years old that makes you a student and you work availability would not be same as someone out of school who can devote more hours. I would not be to bummed out by that, take the experience for what it was worth and move on. Still pretty young man focus on school and young people stuff!

You are 15! and you have already passed certification exams and also planned the future! Thats very nice. My advice will be to concentrate more on your academic studies and learn what interests you side by side. In future you will always get good opportunities. Enjoy your life

This. I'd just ask him on the phone if he still could use you as you're very interested in this field. If he doesn't call you back, just move on.

You've already got experience and certs before graduating high school. I think you're doing pretty well for yourself.

In the business world and life in general, strained relations can create anxiety for both parties which can cause people to act in strange ways, such as his reaction of reading your messages but never replying which you perceive to be a simple act but various psychological/personality factors prevent him from doing so.

As others suggested to call (since it is the most direct form of communication, unless you still see him at church of course), but take a tone of not seeing an old friend in awhile. Something as simple as--

Hey Joe, I haven't heard from you in a few months but I am just touching base to see if you need any assistance with upcoming jobs. I appreciate your mentoring in the past and would love to work with you again. Thanks!

And like others said, you are young. Focus on academics and if you see fit continue to grab work when you can (no rush) and certs. By the time you graduate you should be in good position to grab a solid job. By the time you are 25 you will be sitting on 10 years experience, certs and hopefully a college degree and people will be blowing up your phone to get you to work for them.

Thanks for all of the speedy replies. I love that example paragraph Isud, and I will say something similar to that. Also, pinky what you said really hit me in the face;probably 10 years of experience, degree, and certs by 25. That just blows my mind. I had never put much thought into it, but I see jobs wanting a lot of experience and 10 years at 25 is mind boggling. Thank all of y'all for being uplifting and helpful is my situation.
