Plantwiz Mod Posts: 5,057 ModGlad to see others getting them for their 'kids' too. I was really thinking my two-year old needed this....she just may get it (after I'm done with it )Plantwiz

keatron Member Posts: 1,213 ■■■■■■□□□□JD is right on again. I spend about $300 per week for a glorified daycare for my 1 year old. They tell me that after she turns 2 and is completely potty trained it'll drop to $275
And speaking of wives. We were interviewing stay at home nannies last month. The third young lady we interviewed happened to be extremely attractive. What was really funny is the fact that as soon as she walked in the door and my wife saw how attractive she was, she looked at me and said "absolutely not". -
Webmaster Admin Posts: 10,292 AdminSure, 'life' is expensive, but it's worth it right? And just imagine the possibilities... I could buy Transformers, rc cars, and all sorts of fun USB devices. Plus my mom would stop bringing it up every time I visit

Plantwiz Mod Posts: 5,057 ModKids and spouses are great and sometimes VERY challenging. I love both mine, but the change from taking care of only myself to taking care of a family is impossible to compare.
Let it happen when the time is right, no need to rush (IMO) as it is such a responsiblity....a 'I' think a couple needs to both be ready for the committment.
Besides, you don't need a kid to buy Legos. Get them because they were on 'sale' (I don't think I've ever seen them go on sale).
And, yes......my kid is worth it!!Plantwiz

paige1 Member Posts: 117It seems like you'd need a USB extension cable to keep from breaking it. The weight of the knife would bend the USB connector if it were just hanging off a PC or laptop.Self-confidence is the first requisite to great undertakings.

The USB thumb thing really flipped me out. That was really hilarious and I plan to have a few thumbs protruding from my computer.

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,101 AdminSomebody should come out with a device that monitors the power drawn on the USB. I believe it only supplies up to a half-amp of current. If you have too many USB devices plugged that draw power from the bus you'll get a few device failures. This is why I prefer USB devices that use external power adapters (wall warts).
That being said, where's my USB Tesla Coil? -

That would be very cool if it could intergrate a USB drive to put all your software tools on as well when visiting clients.
Can someone let me know how the microscope performs, it looks hell cool. -

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,101 AdminI completely forgot to post an update on the USB microscope. I received it on December 23rd, connected it to my son's laptop, and it works great! It's basically a webcam that's fixed to a set of lenses to control focus and magnification. It also has built-in illumination, and the microscope detaches from the base when you need to examine specimens in inconvenient places.
The software is pretty good, and it comes in both Mac and Windows versions (although the outside of the box only indicates Mac). You can take both still images and movie files of your specimens. There are some basic image processing features too. I'm gonna see if there's a software development kit for it and write my own imaging application (using .NET, of course). -
Plantwiz Mod Posts: 5,057 ModI was thinking of posting too!
Yep, mine arrived the 23rd also.
Very cool. I was a bit surprised by the MAC on the outside, but learned it was as the exact item (funny they didn't mention MAC as a requirement on-line)
Definately a neat gadget to get young people interested in sciencePlantwiz
