Good lab from ebay?

Will this be good for CCNA AND CCNP?

I dont want to spend that much so i thought i'd get a kit from ebay, i was looking at this one

that's what my CCNA lab started out as....

you will need a few more capable ones for CCNP.

What's your budget? You need l3 switches for CCNP. Not sure about the routers as you can do all that in GNS3

prefer not to spend more then the 2nd one...

Nope, the 2950 is a L2 switch. The 2948G is a fixed configuration wire speed L3 Switch. Catalyst 2948G-L3 Switch* [Cisco Catalyst 2900 Series Switches] - Cisco Systems If you want a L3 switch you need to be looking at 35XX switch, Also the 2960 has Limited L3 functionality. If you are looking at L3 capabilities, then look for a lab on ebay that includes switches with that functionality. If you have not started yet I seriously think you should look into packet tracer for CCNA. It gives you 90% of what you need in a single easy to use interface. CCNP requires layer 3 switches which are barely discussed in CCNA.

Once you are familiar with the content you will be able to make a better choice for the equipment. I have a lab and still add to it but I do most things in packet tracer then redo them on the real equipment.

You can do almost everything from the CCNA to the CCNP level (routing and switching anyway) with IOU/Web-IOU. The only exceptions that come to mind are Serial links and UDLD but this could be done with GNS3. There are pre-build Linux VMs with the latest IOS releases for IOU too. Shouldn't be too hard to find with Google

I recently snagged a lot of 2 3550's for $89.99 off ebay and a solo 3750 for $75 off ebay. Plus I got 4 more 2950's in a lot for $48.99 of ebay too.

I grouped switches by roughly which generation of router they match. The 3560 and 3750 will run newer IOSes designed for the 3560v2 and 3750v2. As best I can tell, the only thing Cisco changed between the older and newer models was to reduce power consumption and make them all the same size (previously, they were all different sizes).

Ideally, you would want "Series 9" devices, but these are still for the most part (exception: 800 Series Routers listed in "Series 9") way beyond most of our budgets. "Series 8" is next best and should cover everything for the current CCNA and CCNP. "Series 7" are the cheapest and will cover most CCNA topics and a good majority of CCNP topics.

If you are on a tight budget, I would go with --

2 x 2950
2 x 3550 (Make sure to download the latest IP Services IOS)
3 x 1760 (Make sure it is "32F" / Has 32 MB Flash)
3 x MEM1700-128D (128 MB DRAM Upgrade for the 1760 to allow it to run the latest 12.4T Advanced IP Services image -- c1700-advipservicesk9-mz.124-15.T14.bin)
1 x 2811
3 x WIC-1DSU-T1
3 x WIC-1DSU-T1-V2

If you have a little extra, I would --

1) swap the 1760's out for 1841's (unless you need voice support)
2) swap the 2950's for 2960's or 3560's/3750's
3) swap the 3550's for 3560's/3750's
