Tenure versus higher $$$

What do you all think is more important? Gaining more tenure (e.g. more years on the job) or quitting and taking on another title with higher pay? That's after being in the present role for just 1 year.

Well if you have the option of taking another job with higher pay (and presumably a better position to begin with?) I would probably take the new position and gain tenure there instead of the current one. It's really relative to the situation at hand. For example as a professor in a university you may choose tenure at a public university over a job in the private sector that pays more. If you know you can take another position that has higher pay, is more exciting, and appears to be a long-term position, I would take the opportunity and then think about tenure there.
