The question asks about the cable but to understand why you choose the cable you need to understand which pins the device uses for sending and receiving data. -

A PC plugs into a Switch which plugs into a Router
A PC plugs into a Hub which plugs into a Router
A WAP plugs into a Switch which plugs into a Router
These connections use Straight-Through. Skip a link and you need a Crossover. Same goes for two of the same device (crossover) -- Router to Router, Switch to Switch, Hub to Hub.R&S: CCENT → CCNA → CCNP → CCIE [ ]
