So after a year and a half of browsing these forums, I earned N+/CCNA and next week hopefully CCNA:V I have a network engineer job! I am currently a web designer but it was really not my thing so I set out to study to become a network engineer and I just got accepted to a small ISP. The job is basically support/installation/network design and planning. From what they were saying it is a bit of everything and I will learn a ton!
So basically, if it wasnt for this forum there is no way I would have known where to start or even had the motivation to get here. So thank you everyone!
This might help others, but they said the reason they asked me to interview was because I wrote on my CV that I had a home lab. This basically showed that I was pretty dedicated and obviously I could troubleshoot etc... Again, I probably wouldnt have done that or even tried getting certs if it wasnt for this forum. Excited and nervous but its awesome!!
So my next step, once I start the job is to start my CCNP. One question though, I have no idea if they use Cisco or not yet... If they don't, would CCNP still be valuable to learn? If I hadn't learned CCNA I wouldn't have known about OSPF etc which they mentioned they used, so im guessing CCNP will expand on everything in CCNA.

Haha I know! When I got home I thought of loads of questions I could have asked but my head was spinning! To be honest I never thought I would get it, and was prepared for my next interview to ask better questions. I'm going to ask them this week though because my notice period is 2 months, so got 2 months to study up ready!cyberguypr wrote: »Love to see success stories. Congrats!
Cheers buddy, I've been reading them for the last year, so happy to be a part of one now! -
