Just Hit A Wall! Need Some Advice!

I just got my A+ certification and now I'm ready to start that career I've been dreaming of.

Here is my problem...

I've spent a lot of time and effort creating an awesome resume in Photoshop, one that would perhaps help me bring out some of my personal experiences with PC's making up for my lack of work experience. I flattened my Photoshop file and saved it as a PDF.

I'm starting to wonder if my resume is readable by these companies. I really don't know how it works these days.

My question...

Should I continue to upload this beautiful resume or should I start over and create a simple Word document?

Step #1: Explain why you created a resume in Photoshop.
    Step #2: Expedite Step #1

I'm afraid we will need to see said resume.

I would probably build one in word for the online sites.
maybe use the photoshop one if you are sending hard copies?

    Good Luck!

I created a resume in Photoshop because I wanted something that stood out. I've been working with PC's for years in various freelance type of work, such as a DJ, audio engineer, and finally PC repair and custom builds. However, I have no work experience. I searched through various websites that offered nice looking templates that highlighted my skills as apposed to my work experience. I just decided on one that was created in Photoshop.

That might be good if you're applying in person - especially if it's a job you found about from networking (you know someone). But I don't think it'd be very good for applying online.

Have you fielded the resume by sending it to a few companies and seeing how the responses have been?

I just started sending out resumes yesterday. I've only gotten a few automated responses. I guess that means they are receiving the file. I've just read a lot about the whole "ATS" thing and I'm concerned that will get in my way when it comes to websites like Monster or Indeed.

I really want to see it too. That sounds pretty interesting.
