IT market in Phoenix area

I'm curious to hear from those who know about the Phoenix area, or currently live there, what the IT market is like there. Is it hot or not? What is hot there? Beside the weather lulz. The reason for wanting to know is I've been thinking about moving there for the last year or so. I want to get away from Colorado for a little bit. My gf is from AZ so finding a place to crash for a bit until we can get on our feet shouldn't be an issue. Not sure when I would be making the move though, within the next year or so.

Little more about me:
I'm 30 years old. I have about a years worth of IT experience. My current job, which I have been at for about 9 months now, is IT specialist (pretty much helpdesk/desktop support, tier 1) for a school district. I have my AAS in computer information systems. Also have A+, Net+, and Sec+ certs from compTIA. I do plan to go back to school and get BA from Western Gov or something else. I'd like to get into more of a networking role, maybe admin. Any info is much appreciated.

I'm in Tucson - and while the market here isn't horrible, it's certainly not ideal. I would think you'd have much better options in Phoenix.

I can tell you there are a number of job opportunities here. The past month I went on several interviews and had a couple of job offers. I start work at a new job on Tuesday. I have zero IT experience....I'm a recent grad... NAU... and from my experience with the interview process ... employers here are looking for your skills. You are ahead of the game so to speak with having experience and of course your certifications. Six of my college buddies have been employed in the past month as well.... from IT support..systems analyst ... to networking positions. I'm going to pull my resume from the major sites as I'm getting calls for interviews and a number of emails wanting to setup interviews.

I'm not sure if the market is "hot" here but... you really shouldn't have a problem finding work. Get on Dice, Monster, Indeed, Career Builder..LinkedIn...etc. and submit your resume. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the response.

I attended a Tech meeting last night... Amex is looking for people as well as APS. Level 3 communications is in the middle of a hiring freeze due to a merger. Intel and GM are looking as well... check the Phoenix Gov site as well... several IT positions and the Maricopa school system is always looking.

Hope some of this helps and best of luck... the jobs are out there for sure.

    Hatch.
