Mastering Vsphere 5.5

So I finished this in 9-10 days, and must say it was awesome, this is probably the best technical book I have ever read. I am now offically a Scott Lowe fan, someone with five or more years VMware experience could easily learn some things from this book.

It's great, aint it! Grab the vSphere Design book too, that book ups it a notch or two.

Yea this was book one of what I am sure will be at least a dozen on the road to attempting VCDX, already got the design book in a safari slot along with networking for vmware admins by lowe.

Yep, chuck the Clustering Technical Deepdive by Epping and Denneman into one of your slots too. I heard somewhere the panel will grill you on the HA/DRS components in the DX: DCV defense (not surprising given HA/DRS are critical components of a design)

I think Nick Marshall contributed the most to the 5.5 book this time, It is very much like Scott's previous book Mastering vSphere 5. I've got the design book and can't fault either. Except, I would like to see some more in depth scenarios, similar to what was in the MCITP MSPress books.

@kj0 - I havent looked at the 5.5 book, how did you find it in comparison with the 5.0 book?

On a side note, for scenarios and all you cant go past the Managing and Optimizing vSphere Deployments by Sean Crookston and Harley Stagner.

They were a much of a muchness. They are both great books. You would think by now I could retain the information I have read in both books, but alas, it is not the case icon_sad.gif From an interest point of view, it definitely kept you reading more and more, like a good novel.

I'll check it out. Would be great to get some scenario labbing going.

Yeah, I need to really work on my reviewing skills. Particularly now that I've got two books to review for VMwarePress. Basically, If you enjoyed the Mastering 5, you'll love Mastering 5.5 even more.
