The question asks for PROTOCOLS. One of the answers is IPSec. I thought that IPSec is for encription and is NOT a PROTOCOL.
PPTP & L2TP are protocols.
Please explain why IPSec is a protocol.

I can assist you by first describing what a protocol is (a protocol is a set of rules that govern how computers communicate on a network).In addition to that I can say that when computers are exchanging data on a network,it's transported in a plain text format which can be accessed by any network utility software.Therefore some of the methods employed by microsoft to rectify this problem is to employ IPSec protocol to be run on both systems that is engaged in data exchange to meet a good security standard.Thanx
