Should I trust this Craiglist Ad?

I found a job opening on Craiglist that I want to apply for: Instructional Computer Lab Operations Assistant -- Academic Hourly
It seems legit but it tells me to apply by responding to the posting and does not specifically an email address. When I go to the website, there is no mention of said position.
Should I be worried and avoid applying?

Well that is the thing, there just job is not posted on the University HR website nor the academic school website for which this position is assigned.
My gut feeling is apply but very suspect if am sent anything that does not have the University of Illinois listed or University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign listed. -
techfiend Member Posts: 1,481 ■■■■□□□□□□I would bet it's a phantom job listing. I've never seen an edu especially a state university list a job without a link to the edu's site.
I have also never received a reply from a direct email on craigslist, it could just be my luck.
What do you have to worry about? I have direct emailed on craigslist for over a year and haven't noticed any questionable activity with personal accounts, mail, phone, etc.2018 AWS Solutions Architect - Associate (Apr) 2017 VCAP6-DCV Deploy (Oct) 2016 Storage+ (Jan)

I guess really nothing because all they would have is my address, cell phone number, and email address. And it's not like I don't get requests for help from a Nigerian prince every few weeks. -
cyberguypr Mod Posts: 6,928 ModAs others said it looks awfully strange. I would send a non-descriptive reply asking for more info. Evaluate the email address the reply comes from. If not legit more likely than not it will be a generic Google address.

There is a blanket job statement for what appears to be this position. https://jobs.illinois.edu/academic-job-board/job-details?jobID=40430&job=it-specialists-associate-specialist-and-senior-levels-engineering-it-shared-services-a1400174 -

looks fake to me... -
techfiend Member Posts: 1,481 ■■■■□□□□□□I've seen $12 per hour for an entry level job needing a BS with tiny companies but never applied to them. That's incredibly cheap for a state college.
It sort of makes sense for colleges to post phantom jobs, to find out what has been working and what hasn't in the IT field. So they know what courses they should offer. Still horrible practice but it's kind of like adsense and all the other online tracking cookies, in which some sell your info, and that's generally accepted. Maybe it's time to stop replying to CL ads, only use it to find the job on the companies website.2018 AWS Solutions Architect - Associate (Apr) 2017 VCAP6-DCV Deploy (Oct) 2016 Storage+ (Jan)
