Cyber Security Certificate vs Degree

I just completed my AA in Business and currently taking an A+ course. I am now thinking about going back and getting my bachelors in IT or Cyber Security. I noticed that a local online school(APU) offers a Certificate in Cyber Security and I wanted to know if that would mean anything to an employer. I realize they would rather see a bachelors but if I could just take the 5-6 courses to get the certificate that would be much easier(on the wallet).

It should draw enough attention to possibly help you get your foot in the door, but you may get beat out by those who do have a BS degree. Now days, you will find that a lot more people out there have 4-year degrees and the competition is more fierce. I definitely recommend getting the bachelors degree. Hard work, patience, and dedication always pays off in the end.

You can still get a bachelor's in another degree lets say computer science and work on your certificate on the side. Then you have your major and certificate work in another concentration.

a lot of times the certificates are a subset of what you need for the degree. Start working on the certificate and when you finish it continue onto the degree. If you have a scheduling issue with the certificate, fill in with the other classes for the degree.

I agree. The courses from the cert should transfer over to a degree. So you can work on that at the moment unless you're 100% sure you want a Bachelor's then I'd just go straight for that.
