JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,091 AdminI'm signed up for 70-533 on 12/20. I known nothing about Azure and haven't taken a Microsoft cert exam since 1998. I just can't resist a free voucher.

678/700. Not nearly as devastating considering I have nothing to do with Azure and only took it because it was free. If I wanted to retake it, I could use the 50% off voucher.
I watched the MVA videos, read a lot of the TechNet articles. The MVA videos didn't go into as much depth as I needed. Most of my luck came from Azure developer documentation. Lots of PowerShell.2017 Goals: []PCNSE7 []CCNP:Security []CCNP:R&S []LCDE []WCNA -
unfbilly11 Member Posts: 100 ■■□□□□□□□□Sorry to hear that you didn't pass. At least it was free.
How long did you study for it? Was it just kinda, "Hey I have a free voucher, I'll look over some TechNet and then go take a stab at it" or did you really go in thinking you studied hard and you were going to pass?
Anyone else take this exam? I am thinking about doing it. I have the free voucher and I have some time now because my term is just about over at WGU.
What I would most like to know is how well the articles at the site below match the actual exam.

Ahh... some people were offering them in other threads, didnt read the fine print.
Thanks! -
JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,091 AdminI'm taking 70-533 this Saturday. I'm going for the lowest possible score you can get on an MS cert exam.
-
thulasi39 Member Posts: 22 ■□□□□□□□□□I appeared yesterday and got 615. As a preparation, I used MVA videos only. So it's not enough to pass the exam. Few questions regarding the powershell helped me to get this score.

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,091 AdminI just took 70-533 and achieved a mighty 360! What's the bottom score on an MS exam? That may not be bad for no Azure experience and zero studying.
It seems like something new happens to me every time I take a cert exam. This time I clicked the "Start the Exam" button and immediately got an error message about the exam not being able to start because either unauthorized applications were running on the computer or an application did not start (some difference, eh?). The testing center guys had to call Prometric tech support and were literally told, "Have you tried turning it off then on again?" They rebooted the Prometric server at the testing center, which restored the connection to the Administrative server, but it didn't solve the problem. They deleted and re-entered my appointment information, reloaded the exam, did some voodoo in the Admin server via RDP, and eventually I was able to start the exam nearly 1.5 hours later. I would have probably left the testing center before that, but I paid $5 for parking and didn't want to walk away with nothing.
For those interested in 70-533:- Know how to use PowerShell to configure and solve problems with Azure.
- Know what the insides of XML and JSON files for Azure should look like.
- Know the orders of the steps in a procedure for implementing and troubleshooting Azure.
- Know what Azure features are used to solve which Cloud-related problems.
- It's a good exam; you'd better have hands-on Azure experience if you want a good score.
I am Azure; so can you! -

I took the test today. Barely passed. You have to know everything JDMurray stated above. Definitely know PowerShell cmdlets. Know how AD works between local sites and Azure. Know the different tiers by heart. You have to understand how VPN's, Vnet's, and subnets work in Azure. Learn how to assign access rules to Azure storage, and the different types of storage. Be prepared for a lot of drag & drop, and a lot of exhibits.
I recommend all of the MVA videos on Azure (especially the ones on IaaS), and this link Azure infrastructure exam (70-533) study guide | AzureMan.com
Good luck to anyone else who takes this exam! It's a good one! -
N2IT Inactive Imported Users Posts: 7,483 ■■■■■■■■■■You all are beast who take these concept exams with relatively no experience. I thought my 3 weeks of studying for security + back in the day was impressive LOL.
Nice try and work all who attempted. -
PJ_Sneakers Member Posts: 884 ■■■■■■□□□□Even though the voucher was free, I treated the test like I paid money for it! That, multiple choice testing strategy, and luck. It felt like at least half of the test was ordered drag & drop.
Something that baffles me is the naming convention for the Azure certification. You earn Microsoft Specialist, whatever THAT is. It's confusing because there is also a Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist (MCTS) credential. And you can't say you have an MS in Azure. lol -

lol, I just got an email from Microsoft. They re-evaluated my score and they changed it to a pass. A pleasant surprise for me O_o2017 Goals: []PCNSE7 []CCNP:Security []CCNP:R&S []LCDE []WCNA -

unfbilly11 Member Posts: 100 ■■□□□□□□□□Just requesting an update on this exam...The thread is a few months old now, have any more people taken this exam? How is it? Are there any legitimate materials out there for this yet? All I see are Brain **** from 10,000 sites. I see the Microsoft ref. guide will come out in March...I might have to wait till then...

PJ_Sneakers Member Posts: 884 ■■■■■■□□□□I just recently started seeing advertisements for upcoming Azure MOC classes in my area. Honestly, this isn't a test I would have ever taken had the voucher not been free. There is no certification path for this exam, other than the generic and ambiguous "Microsoft Specialist" designation.
