I am CCNP R&S Certified... Now what?

Hello all,

I have recently finished up my CCNP certification and I am now having trouble figuring out what certification I want to get next.

I am about 6 months into my first Network Administrator position and we do alot of work with Juniper Firewalls as well as Palo Alto firewalls.

I cant decide if I should move right into studying for my CCIE R&S or if I should start knocking out my JNCIA, CCNA Security, JNCIS....

Listening to any and all opinions on the matter... I plan on constantly seeking out new certifications to raise my value not only with my current employer but with potential employers down the road.

Thanks in advance for the feedback!

I'd say take a break. Spend some time just being a Net Admin and getting that real hands on experience. You have plenty of time. Realistically not to many people are going to give much to a CCIE R&S with 2 years of experience. As for the other certs, again, not needed at this point.

I would learn as much as possible about Juniper and Palo Alto firewalls.

    +1

Love the advice - Just learn the position with as little stress around you as possible. The CCNP is a huge one, no need to get anymore at this point.

Congrats on the pass. I also say take a break and reflect on the moment and goal completed. Then, work on the next cert because 3 years in Cisco world goes quick. I would also look @ Checkpoint firewall platforms because bigger companies use it and it's in great demand too. The ball is in your court just do the research and things will work out.

You may also consider learning some scripting. Python is generally regarded as a good place to start.
