Cisco UCS Manager // Change of Service Profile Template Type
jibbajabba
Anyone know how to change a template from “Updating” to “Initial” Template without creating a new shiny template ?

I think you're stuck with the clone again, same as last question.
If you have existing service profiles associated with the updating template that you no longer want to update, choose Unbind from the template under that service profile

I take that back, clone doesn't let you reselect that. Let me play around a bit and see what I can find.

Looks like you will need to create a new template. Response on Cisco community to same question:
"You'll need to create a new Template and set it as updating from the initial setup. This prevents problems with people accidentally changing a template from Initial to Updating and applying changes to linked profiles unexpectedly."
It does make sense.

Actually, try creating a new service profile (not associated with any server blade yet), and then right click that and convert to service profile template. That should let you choose initial vs updating. It worked on one of my chassis, anyway. I had an unbound service profile that I was using to try to test something else for a question on ieoc, and happened to notice that option.

Oh thanks, will try that
