Denver job market

Hello everyone,
I am getting prepared to move to Denver next summer and I was wondering about the most efficient method to find employment. I have no real contacts in the industry there and I have always landed jobs by referrals. Should I contact a recruiter or contact employers directly? I've never needed to make my resume stand out among a pile of applicants, so this is new territory for me.
A little about me- I've worked in Net admin for health care, banking, manufacturing and telecom since the mid 90s. I just finished up a full semester of IT classes at the local university and am transferring into WGU. MCSE in 1999, but I haven't really maintained my certs. Past 5 years have been IT consultant to area businesses (Jack of All Trades). I'm thinking I will have to find a net admin job so that I can get moved to the area and then set a goal of specialization in security after I am settled.
Any great recruiters in the area?
thanks!
Corey

MSP-IT Member Posts: 752 ■■■□□□□□□□I'm in the same situation currently. I've been working with recruiters directly (Teksystems and Robert Half) through LinkedIn. The job market seems to be pretty good in Denver, though I'd wait to Q1 of 2015 to see if it picks up at all, which it should.

I've worked with Tek contractors locally and they seemed to be decent, so I'll give them a run.
Thanks for the info.
also, did the forum inbox feature get turned off? I want to connect with several of you, but there is no way to do so.CISSP - January 2015

My current contract is with Pomeroy, and they lied to me as well about the job I took 6 months ago. No wonder I'm leaving them at the end of this week to go to much greener and honest pastures. They really soured my outlook on recruiters as well. -

When things like this happen I begin to pay close attention.CISSP - January 2015
