Hello Everyone,

I have noticed the many other topics concerning this exam that have been started but since am a dormant existing member i decided to start a new topic so as not to cause confusing. I am currently preparing for the CCNA exam but i have some questions. So places am seeing that the exam is so hard but from others i get the feelin that it isn't as hard.....i mean don't get me wrong am not under estimatin cisco's legitimatcy but if u have done the 70-292 exam then u gonna know what am talkin bout cause 70-292 was hard but once u know what u about it's passable....is CCNA like that? an another ting is there a calc in d exam software....i know there was one in all MS exams......

Is like any other exam, if you know your stuff you will do fine.
I think the CCNA is not an easy exam but is passable. What you need is experience with routers, be familiar with hardware, this way is easier. And of course, know your theory.

Not to scare you, but I know a lot of "hardcore" networkers who have failed the exam once or twice. Know the material 100%, because you'll have other things to worry about during the exam. Watch your time and make sure you get the Sims correct since they are heavily scored. A lot of people I've spoken with said that they CCNA was much harder than the CCNP, though I can't say for certain. I would recommend the two tests over the one, but whatever fits your knowledge base.

thanks for the input.......i am planning on taken it next wk friday and right now am just brushing up on the the sims........cause like u said they mean the world in CCNA......

You could easily fail by getting a sim or two wrong, so I'd make sure I know the Cisco lab material really well. They say that the Cisco sims are the fun part of the exam, meaning that you should already know enough to blow through them.

I've taken the test twice, so I've gotten the time down good. I can usually finish with 15 minutes remaining. When I first took the test I went in there with only knowledge of the 1900 switch, which has a completely different interface than the 2950 which Cisco requires you to know. The 2950 has more Router-like commands and performs similar to one.

So i take it that u passed d second time........:D since u got it down so good maybe u can tell me.....although i don't expect it but is there a calculator in the exam simulator as it has in MS exams?

There is no calculator on the exam. You need to know subnetting enough to do it in your head and don’t even want to use a calculator.

just an update......i did 640-801 this mornin.....and i passed with a score of 912.......got lots of question on switches, access lists, subnetting, couple questions on RIP, some on OSPF.......oh did i mention switches....my advise 2 upcomming CCNA's know ur switchin commands

i got 2 sims.......one to configure and one with questions to answer......i studied for give or take just for safety a month........
