Has anyone taken any of the free online courses that edX offers? I would like to hear about the experience.

    I took some of the Linux foundation course they have, it was well done. I should get back to finishing it but I've been busy in other directions lately.

    I asked because of Linux lol. edX has a Linux course starting on 5-Jan-15 which I just signed up for.

    Yea i started that Linux foundation but then i got a new job and got busy, i should re join the one in january but i am studying my ccna DC then going on to CCNP R&S just got my bundle yesterday

    That course is the slightly revised version of this one: http://www.techexams.net/forums/off-topic/98499-learn-linux-free-summer-through-edx-harvard-u.html. I signed up for it back then but only did a few modules which were extremely basic and super short. It looked pretty boring so I didn't keep going.

    I had the same experience w/ the edX Linux course.

    Took a few of their other courses and really liked them especially one of their Python classes. However, I stopped all the courses when work started to pick up. Additionally, a coworker was very vocal about other scripting languages I could/should be learning instead of Python to be relevant to my current job and suggested I switch.
    Goals for 2018:
    Certs: RHCSA, LFCS: Ubuntu, CNCF CKA, CNCF CKAD | AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect Pro, AWS Certified Security Specialist, GCP Professional Cloud Architect
    Learn: Terraform, Kubernetes, Prometheus & Golang | Improve: Docker, Python Programming
