Upgrade Order

Hey guys,
So I got his down pat the upgrade order is:
1) vCenter
2) VUM
3) ESXi hosts
4) VM's
5) VMware Tools
Am I forgetting anything?

The order's right, you may want to include
1) Backups software
2) vCenter
3) VUM
4) ESXi hosts
5) VM's
6) VMware Tools
7) VM hardwareVMFS upgrade (if applicable)
I learned the 'backups software upgrade' the hard way once! -

Apart from the port number KBA, I find this one of my most used (Probably should remember all now) VMware KB: Update sequence for vSphere 5.5 and its compatible VMware products -

Well I just upgraded literally almost 9 months after this post to 6.0.0 from 5.5.0 following this upgrade process. Not much has changed. -

It is indeed a good one. One thing I have yet to find out is the reasoning behind the vShield Edge upgrade so late in the sequence. Given that Edges are sometimes upgraded automatically through redeployment in vCD.My own knowledge base made public: http://open902.com
