Realistic Salary for Tier 1 Help Desk

Hey Guys,

I was just wondering if $42k is a realistic salary to expect for a new college grad with a Network+ in Washington, DC. The average salary, according to salary.com, is $53k in DC for Help Desk Support. That seems pretty high based on what I've read about average salary for Help Desk but then again the cost of living in DC is pretty high. What do you guys think?

Thanks for the help.

If your just starting I see it very reasonable. for a new college grad its perfect you can always move to tier 2 later on and make about 50 to 53k.
    Good luck.

My first help desk job pay 40k out of university no complains there.

Yea 40k is good enough for me but there is no way I can make less than that. With my student loans and everything. Where are you located bchen22?

    40k sounds about right nowadays...

I made 55k-60k but I'm from Silicon Valley.

I'm considered 'tier 2' and make about 53k.

When I was Tier 1, I was at about 32/33k. This was in Miami.
