Hey all, I recently bought and recieved a cisco series 2500 router that I purchased off ebay. I hooked it up w/ my console cable and powered it up and ran it through hyperterminal. My problem is that you need a console password to get into user mode. So I was just curious to what procedure i would take in order to retrieve the password or change it. I was taught that you need to config-register to 0X2142 but there's no place to do that. So, any feedback would be awesome. Thanks!

But what I did was found the break sequence (ctrl-break) and then pretty much followed the instructions, changing the register to 0x2142 and looking at the running-config.
