How would I get a job with cisco building routers and switches?

when I say building them, I mean like making the circutry, dealing with electricity and all that stuff. I'll be going to a community college next month for physics, then will transfer to a university and go for electrical engineering.

Do you mean as part of the manufacturing process or building out datacenters?

Assuming the former, "Making the circutry" is not done in datacenters :)

As for building - there is a factory in Russia I think, in China and there used to be a Mexican one - I think that one is closed.

As with most companies - manufacturing of stuff is usually outsourced. What is dealt with internally I believe is development, but I doubt you can just jump in, you probably have to be with Cisco for a while and whatnot ..

Yeah it's going to be done in a low cost base country and tbh, making a living would be tough imo. You could always go towards the side of actually designing the devices, in which case your engineering degree would be very useful.
