Passed T-Shoot, my thoughts!

Passed Tshoot this morning and here is what I think about it. Without having to do configurations on the equipment I think its pretty worthless. I messed up the very first ticket while looking at my note pad after I went through every ticket and aborted each one to get a general idea of the problem for isolation. Use the equipment tabs at the bottom so your not clicking on the wrong device like I did. Still score in the mid 900's but its a challenge because you have no room to work on the screen at all. I submitted the first ticket then looked at my notepad and new I was on the wrong ticket even though all the answers were what they should of been. I had to pause for a minute to get my head around what I just did. Ughh I took my time to sort of the rest of the tickets and looked at a lot of the configs on the equipment with different show commands and the old saying goes, "What gets deeper when you take more out, a hole" and that's what you will find if you dig too deep. A lot of "I gotcha's" in the configs. Keep a shallow point of view and it is indeed an easy exam, dig deep and you will 2nd guessing yourself. Sounds like a bad P90x commercial I know. Best of luck for the future NP's because it's not about the destination but more about the journey and what you learn along the way.

There were a couple times during the year that I was going to throw in the Towel during Route and came back onto this forum to push through. Not as rewarding passing NP as CCNA. NP was a lot more humbling.

Congrats mate, I've been following your journey too and seen you around on the forum. I agree with you TShoot is a bit disappointing and I found flaws in my simulations but hey I passed so happy days!

Any ideas where you are going next?

I half way through the CCNA Security book and have been watching the CBT Videos. I'm pretty pumped up because there are so many parallels to what my current job duties are. TACACS, Method lists and VPN's woo hoo! As soon as I test out I'm jumping right into the CCNP Security VPN 642-648. Once I get CCNA/S out of the way I think I might try the NP/S out at Cisco Live in San Diego if I'm ready.

642-648 is no longer a valid exam and has been retired. The VPN based exam is now 300-209 - SIMOS

Congrats! The CCNA-S looks pretty interesting. It's nice to learn material that keeps u coming back. ROUTE was a tad dry at times.
If it ain't broke don't fix it.
If it is broke, did you try to fix it?
