ITPro.TV vLabs?

I was wondering if any of you have a subscription to ITPro.TV, and if so, what are their vLabs like?

Are they virtualized? Or are they like the Flash animated "sims" from the 1990's?

I'm a Security Now podcast listener so I hear their commercials a few times a week. Anyone actually use it? Did a search on the forum and didn't find much. Perhaps the price point is a bit steep? Seems like a good idea but it costs a good bit to really find out. The fact you have to pay a full year at once to be able to download stuff is a killer to me, I want something I can watch on my phone.

I'm also curious if it's any good. Use code SN30 for a discount.

My thing is that the best 'value' is to pay for the whole year and unlock everything, specifically the downloadable episodes. I just don't know if it's worth it. I guess this summer I'll give it a try for a short while and see what it's all about and decide from there. The fact that nobody here seems to use it ought to tell me something.

The reason I asked is because they are the new kids on the CBT block, and advertise pretty heavily. I did get a quote from them on group training for my guys at work, and they had very affordable group rates.

Nice. Let us know how it goes. I only know about them because they advertise on the TWiT podcasts.

I am glad to see so many others interested in the value of ITProTV. I elected to but a year subscription to have access to all the bells and whistles. I also have experience with Lynda.com, CBT, Udemy, and more. Actually I have a solid library. But I have some concerns about the level and quality of the ITPROTV. I do not expect that taking their courses replaces reading the books, and I have ~20 years in IT so there are many times when I feel like they do not go deep enough and they labor small points. I also get frustrated with some of their trainers who fall into long 'Beavis and Butthead' moments. Since Security Now recommends them, I expected them to be more like Steve Gibson.

Having said all of that, good and bad, I am not unhappy with their resources. The VMs are good and they use a great network emulator, GNS3.

I am about to start a regime of practice tests and vm drills, so a test is also in my near future. I think one good test will tell me what I need to know.

The labs are virtual machines and the Cisco switches are real Cisco switches. It's pretty nice unless you accidentally restart the lab then you will loose your configurations some times. I like to do the labs before watching the videos because I learn better that way.

Wow, spam bot resurrected necro thread.

Anyhow, an update (2 years later): I did not get ITPro for work but I did get a personal account and I enjoyed it. I think they are a great value for the money when you use a discount code.

An interesting thing just happened to me in the CCENT lab that I was working on. One of the interfaces that was supposed to be up was set to down so things weren't working like the examples. I'm not really mad I got to spend about 20 minutes trying show commands and troubleshooting why it wasn't working right. But I will say that after heavy use I have found the labs to be a little glitchy. I should also mention that another time I had a problem, on a Sunday afternoon, I emailed the support and got a response within ten minutes and got to continue labbing which was nice. I just thought I would further resurrect this thread.
