Server installation via PXE ?

We try to find a decent way to deploy an OS to a UCS blade from vCAC. I have been in contact with VMware for a few months now and even they seem to struggle with it.
Anyway - ignoring specifics such as UCS and vCAC for now - apart from Razor (which is still Alpha for Windows deployments), what other PXE deployment methods have you used in the past ?
Whatever you do - the problem seems to be in how you'd tell the PXE server what OS to install and when it is installed - so it isn't reinstalled during reboot.
At the moment we have workflows getting hardware information from the UCS blade (MAC / WWN etc.) and it then creates the necessary Razor config and so on. But like I say - Razor is out of the picture right now.
SCCM is out, so is UCS Director ...
What else is there ??
