Good luck! Let me know if you have any other questions before you take it. -
hurricane1091 Member Posts: 919 ■■■■□□□□□□I honestly never finished chapters 3-5, so I restarted last night and read chapters 1 and 2 and took brand new notes. I'm going to finish the next 3 chapters tonight and tomorrow, then watch some key CBT videos and just review my notes. We'll see what happens. Just concerned with passing lol, a 500 is fine.

markulous Member Posts: 2,394 ■■■■■■■■□□A coworker of mine mentioned a cool exercise. So you go A-Z in order and write down a Linux command. The week before my test I was doing that on my drive home. I tried to name as many commands as I could for each letter and tried to remember some of the switches for them. I realized that 'Z' was the only one that I never heard mentioned in LabSim. So I had to look up some commands when I got back to my VM.
A 500 is fairly low, but it did have some tricky questions IMO. -

Down another chapter. I feel a little better. It sucks because I think I have an okay understanding, but a lot of different options and variables. We'll see! -
markulous Member Posts: 2,394 ■■■■■■■■□□Have you looked at the objectives from CompTIA? I looked at it after the fact and it seemed fairly accurate.

markulous Member Posts: 2,394 ■■■■■■■■□□Also, some of the labsim questions for the LX0-102 practice exam are incredibly easy. e.g. Which of the following are valid private ip addresses, what is the broadcast address of 12.1.16.23 255.0.0.0, what is the port for telnet, etc. The more of those the better on the actual exam please. I imagine it's not going to be that simply though...

hurricane1091 Member Posts: 919 ■■■■□□□□□□I'll take a peek, and that is easy haha. How long did it take to get your voucher by the way? Seems like it's taking longer than the CCNA:S did.
-
markulous Member Posts: 2,394 ■■■■■■■■□□I was getting the Cisco ones within a couple hours, the Linux ones it seems like it's taking a day. I requested the 102 voucher about 7 hours ago and haven't seen it yet, although I did see my mentor approved it.

hurricane1091 Member Posts: 919 ■■■■□□□□□□My mentor approved it Monday. Not sure what the hold up is? Would like to take Saturday. I have to finish Chapter 5 tonight and then looking to just cram Friday.

If it's been that long, I'd call them. I've had that happen on one of my certs and they fixed whatever the hold up was right over the phone. -
hurricane1091 Member Posts: 919 ■■■■□□□□□□Okay, should I call my mentor? Class instructor is out of office so my e-mail to him was useless.
-
markulous Member Posts: 2,394 ■■■■■■■■□□I just called the 800 number and asked to speak with the department that issues vouchers and talked directly to them.
-
markulous Member Posts: 2,394 ■■■■■■■■□□They may be backed up though. I requested mine well over 24 hours ago (with mentor approval) and still haven't gotten it.
-
anoeljr Member Posts: 278 ■■■□□□□□□□The voucher may come on Friday. I remember that when I used to request vouchers on Monday, they would sometimes come around Friday afternoon.
-
markulous Member Posts: 2,394 ■■■■■■■■□□I just called and they said they were way backed up and didn't have an eta.

hurricane1091 Member Posts: 919 ■■■■□□□□□□Damnit. My mentor told me wait til Tuesday. Guess I'm not taking it Saturday. Puts me a little more behind unfortunately.

Wow. I've never had to wait even close to that long. I'm personally going to call the main number again later today and bug them. I want to take it tomorrow if possible. -
hurricane1091 Member Posts: 919 ■■■■□□□□□□Didn't you literally just take the 101? How are you ready already? I'm hoping the answer is you found it easy, but I'm expecting that you had already studied for it when studying for the 101. If you have success please report back. Tomorrow would be better for me.

markulous Member Posts: 2,394 ■■■■■■■■□□Because with the labsim, everything is out of order. There were only a handful objectives that I missed and ended up looking at a lot of 102 material without realizing it. Plus, with the networking and network security questions that were in the test, I was able to skip over a little bit of it. Plus, if I fail, I'll know what to expect the next time and it doesn't cost me a dime.
Yeah, I'll let you know what they say. Probably won't make a difference that I call if they are backed up, but can't hurt. -
hurricane1091 Member Posts: 919 ■■■■□□□□□□My mentor called me and I have the voucher. Scheduled it for early afternoon tomorrow.
-
markulous Member Posts: 2,394 ■■■■■■■■□□Ah, I'm jealous! I was going to wait a bit but I think I'll call here within an hour.
-
markulous Member Posts: 2,394 ■■■■■■■■□□Just called and got the voucher issued right there. Got it scheduled for tomorrow morning.
