VCP550 exam advice........

Hi there,
I am confused how it works the VMware exams, this is going to be my first exam, I have been taken dozens of Microsoft exams, no issue what is so ever, VMware exam seems a bit complicated.

I would like to take vSphere 5.5 exam I believe the exam code is VCP550, I am planning to take this course online “ zoomgroup”, much cheaper than the actual VMware training site, but do I be able to take the exam if I take the course outside of VMware ? pls your advice, how I can book and be able to take the exam.

Thanks in advance!
Hudda

I've not heard of Zoomgroup before, but there's nothing on their website that suggests their training is authorised by VMware, meaning that it will not meet the training requirement for VCP certification.

While if may or may not be good training, it won't count to get you certified - look elsewhere for your training if certification is one of your objectives.

    Have a look here: https://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrreg/locations.cfm?ui=www_edu

There is an alternative, distance learning from a VMware IT Academy, the discussions on here related to Stanly may help.

If you are interested in taking the VMware course with us here at SCC, here is some helpful information. We can offer the VMware class only to individuals and not as part of corporate training. The course is conducted entirely online, including labs, in an asynchronous manner which basically means it is available to students 24/7. Students can study at their own pace provided you meet the minimum due dates set by the instructor. The courses are 8 weeks in length, and the current tuition & lab fee costs total $185. There is also an optional textbook available through our book store.

We enroll students in the VMware courses in the order in which they registered on our online wait list. If you have not added your information to this list please do so at https://vmware.stanly.edu/waitlist.php. We apologize for any delay, but as you can imagine these classes are extremely popular. We make every effort to accommodate all students in a timely manner.

At this time, due to evolving changes in higher education regulations, SCC is unable to serve all of the students that are interested in our courses or programs. SCC will no longer be able to offer distance education online programs or courses for students residing in Alaska, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Wyoming.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. You can also visit our VMware page on our SCC website at VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage.

Am I right in saying that Stanly only accept registrations from those who would be paying for their own training?

I believe this is fairly standard among VITAs...

Yes, this is correct. We do not provide corporate training. We are an authorized VMware Academy for individual training, and we have helped literally hundreds of individuals obtain their required training in order to become certified.

and i thank you for that. i was out of work and needed this, but recently got a job. still, my new employer wont pay for training anyway. i think most companies aren't paying training to contractors which i fall under.

I think most companies expect contractors to be skilled in what they're being contracted for.

True, i'm working on a Sharepoint project at this company and was interested in getting into the virtual side. I thought my consulting company would pay for this training, but they refused. The client is obviously not going to pay for it.
