Firewall/IDS Simulators

Are there any firewall/IDS simulators available? Many jobs are asking for experience/knowledge on this. I have a lot of compliance/policy experience, but wanna learn more on the tech side also.

Snort, iptables, pf, pfSense, m0n0wall, SmoothWall are a good start.

I believe Cisco ASA has 3 months trial. You can get gns3 and tie ASA from there.

build your own simulator, i.e. use VMs to simulate the environment and play around.

SephStorm

You can also buy firewalls and other such devices on ebay for cheap. I like it over simulators.
