Hello
Nice forum.
Tomorrow I will try to pass 461 exam. This is the first time I do any certification.
I have worked with SQL Server since 2000. Both as DBA and developer.
In my daily work I am working with SQL Server 2008.
To study for the 461 exam I bought the MS Press Training Kit. I found it really boring so I have just read a few chapters.
I think its hard to come home and study after a long day at work. And I have a family that needs my attention too.
Nobody has demanded that I shall take the certification. This is my own choice. I thought it would be nice to have as a proof for myself that I have good skills.
I also bought the Measure Up practice exam. I mostly pass the practice exams but I never got 100% correct answers.
I am scared of complex XML questions since I dont use it in my daily job.
Worst of all, I got a cold, I have fever, I feel really sick now ...
Well, I will update the thread tomorrow with a review

I did the test today and I passed. I got > 800 points. I dont remember excactly, because I forgot the paper in my car.
I feel really bad, I have some kind of flu so I am a little surprised I did so well.
Ok,I will of course not say to much details about the test.
I can give you some hints.
Prepare to do some coding
Refresh your XML skills
Read about new features in SQL2012
Triggers ... Microsoft loves triggers.
I have 15 years experience of SQL Server and of course that is my best help. I haven't really studied for this test.
What I did was that I bought the 30 days online access to the Measure Up practice exam. Google and you will probably find a nice coupon code you can use.
I have read some bad reviews about Measure Up. But I must say it helped me. I found my weak spots by doing the practice exam.
But passing the Measure Up test is really not a guarantee to pass the real thing. I can assure that.
Although, the best advice I can give is to check out the exam objectives at Microsofts site and then just read and lab. I downloaded the 180 trial edition of SQL2012 to my laptop and did some labs with stuff that I hadn't full control over.
Reading an Itzik Ben-Gan book is not really my cup of tea.
I found the test a little easier than I had expected. But it's easy for me to say. I can only imagine how hard it can be for a person with not so much working skills from SQL Server.
Now I will go for the 462 exam!
PS : Forget everything about brain ****. Its crap. It won't help. If you succeed by reading brain **** you are still a lousy database developer. -
