How to connect to Domain from Workgroup?

I have a Windows XP client that is workgroup "Microsoft".

There is a domain called "Vista".

Is there a way for the client to connect to the domain Vista while it is still on the workgroup?

If you have a valid account for the domain which has been granted access to those resources, you can connect to shared resources by typing your credentials in each time you access the resources and still be a member of the workgroup.
