Looking into moving up in IT

Hello everybody. I currently been working as a Desktop support analyst for a MSP in NYC and wanted to know which discipline pays the most?

    IT Auditors. Salary: IT Auditor | Glassdoor Look at the salary ranges, now go and get that Auditor position.

    Then again, think about what you just asked. Are you in IT for the money or are you in it for the learning experience, for the technology involved and for personal satisfaction? Anytime you do something only for the money, you will get disappointed, you will be depressed and you will not really love what you are doing. You can not always measure something with money.

    What do you enjoy the most?

    Don't chase the money right away. First decide hey I like Microsoft, I like cisco\juniper, I like VMware, I like Linux(etc) then learn how to specialize in that field to make the money you want.

    ^^^ - what this guy said. Pick your track first then specialise from there.

    I chose Microsoft to start with but soon found that Cisco was way cooler and ultimately transitioned over to being a Network Engineer towards the end of 2012.
