The study guide for part 2 is actually kind of cool. It asks you to actually perform the steps in order to understand the info. So if you haven't created one of the deliverables before it shows you how. I think you could actually use the guide to prep for an EA interview.

This is Philz we are talking about here. The man the myth the legend.

If I hit 1/15 of what Philz sets out to accomplish during a year I exceeded my expectations. :)

lol. I wish I had your brain capacity. I can't even retain a chapter without reading it 8 times over. My note taking and studying skills are horrible

So here is what I do:
    1. Read through the text once
    2. Find an online practice exam or use the book practice exam.
    3. Run through the questions fast, note which ones I got wrong
    4. Re-read the topic, or watch a video, or if they are definitions I write them down.
    5. Repeat 2-4 until I don't get anything wrong.
    6. Turn my study notes into a blog post, writing creates memory.
    7. Test
    8. Pass
    9. Brag on TechExams to boost my low self esteem icon_biggrin.gif

I just passed part 1 today. I'm not sure if I'm going to get around to actually taking part 2 as I just accepted another job offer and will need to get up to speed on that for a while.

So...I've just gotten my pleasant email from ISC(2) congratulating me on my ISSAP concentration and I am curious about TOGAF as a next certification. I have only recently learned they offered it and the price seems acceptable, assuming I self-study again like I did for CISSP and ISSAP.

On the other hand, I haven't seen it mentioned for the jobs I've been researching, so I'm not sure if there might be something more efficient, ROI wise? I have been looking at some of the SANS certs but with my present employer it has been a challenge to get training/certification funding. Also, for those of you who have done it, is there a terrible delay from passing to completion?

Sorry, I've been heads down with about 5 different programs I am managing, writing an e-book, and doing some consulting.

Yes, I obtained the TOGAF Certified cert. Took about 2 weeks to study for if I remember correctly.

A great thanks to philz1982 for all his inputs about TOGAF here. His whole overview of the exam topics helped when I started to recapitulate the stuff. And so I could pass in one step both parts of the exam (I took the TOGAF Part 1 & 2 combined exam). Of course I learned thoroughly before...

    Thanks! :)

Yes, this can be booked via Pearson Vue but first you have to register with The Open Group and choose the exam you want to take. Then you will be redirected to Pearson Vue website and can schedule/book your exam.

Any senior professional looking to jump into the architect space should get TOGAF for sure, or SOA depending on your previous experience and who you are going to work for.

In fact a lot of the solution / data architect I work with only have TOGAF + degree or degrees.

Once I gain a few more years of experience I am getting this and applying for Architect positions. Love the challenge and the pay.
