Interesting. Back to the old days of getting a VCDX. At least until VCIX is put in place.

This was done purely due to the retirement this week of the VCAP exams for Cloud and Desktop solution tracks.

Exams are really not my thing, and neither is time, as bad I feel skipping the VCAPs, this is kind of tempting to go the DT.

Edit: I just read on Twitter that it in for 3 weeks only.

As far as I know the Enterprise exam ("VCAP" on ESX/VirtualCenter 3) was the original prereq for the first VCDX.

I haven't actually asked any of them tho.

Yes, the original VCDX for VI3 did have an "Enterprise" exam requirement, which was very similar to the VCAP-DCA exam - I passed the exam icon_smile.gif

There is a post on the VCDX forum on the VMware Communities that explains the logic behind this - it's all about the June VCDX defences and the exam retirements.

It doesn't matter at all if you ask me. Unworthy candidates won't make it past the VCDX submission, let alone the defense.

kind of nice for me to hear the the VCAP-DCA is not being retired; means I can study for it without a deadline hanging over me....
