Almost every elevated position requires MCSA

No. You'll have to get a computing environment cert as well to get a legit offer, which includes yes, MCSA/MCSE/Disa Acas 5.3 among others...Ill post the list...
Thanks. Also, would you happen to know what's the base pay for their Sys Admin I in Afghanistan? A while back, I was quoted 164K from one of their recruiters.

Ask the recruiter for a pay breakdown.

You can go for Network admin I with a CCNA. The difference in pay is like $10/hr more. Security+ is a bare minimum though.

Sounds good folks, appreciate the quickness. I've heard about them hiring net admins with only sec+/CCNA but I dont know if i want to put myself in a Net Admin position right now. I'm going to apply for service desk now and then maybe once a position opens up I can transfer to network operations or some other entry level networking.

    Xepher,

After researching some of the CE certs, it seems like most if not all of them are retired exams except for server+. Do you know if this list is still the active list, or if they have updated it with more recent cert exams? Maybe I should contact a recruiter and ask what CE cert they recommend.

Btw, were any of you guys hired with your baseline cert only and then obtained your CE cert during the clearance/medical/etc. processing period?

Thanks for all the answers and help, I've read this thread starting from page 1 twice now and its full of information that I was unable to find anywhere else.

I just recommend getting a MCSA certification, you can knock that out depending on how you study in 9 months or less. They don’t hire with just the baseline, unless the position says obtain so and so within 6 months but I’m pretty sure they would look at people or already meet the qualifications since it cost them money to bring people out. That was the most current job description posted under Vectrus for ADPE, so whatever one isn’t expired is valid but I’m sure they will accept higher level certs like MCSA.

What I mean by most current position was the use of the Vectrus internal information site to pull that, I’ll post the sys admin when I have time.

I am in the same boat as others here.  I have received an offer for Iraq in Feb.  I have completed the online 24 steps.  Now waiting to hear from the Vectrus security department to start my SF86, but they have yet to ask for the info.  I have no doubt they are delaying for some reason, but just not sure why.  I will continue to wait like the others.

Dude is pulling the wool over our eyes! lol. Congrats on already being 1 step ahead, I guess.

To be more clear I am changing companies to Vectrus.  More pay, clearance and hopefully a long contract.

So you’re a SA with no clearance in Iraq, that’s a first I’ve seen this.

I can confirm IAs are all filled up in IRAQ at the moment. There is a shortage or anticipation of shortage of Network Adminsitrators and Service Desk for IRAQ.
What about Sys Admin's in Iraq?
