So the internship I applied for would have me mainly being an help desk I but how can i be a tier 1 with there not really being any other tiers...has anybody worked in an enviroment like this? There are several offices that would be calling in to me and i feel like I would be stuck with no help at all from the two others.....

First thing is to calm down and take a deep breath. Congratulations on the internship!

Truth is, you'll be tier I. This means no one expects you to be amazing out the gate. They expect to you follow a predetermined process and escalate appropriately.

Just curious, how do you know how they do things when you just applied to it? It's an internship so any experience is a learning experience. I wouldn't be worried about it. A company doesn't hire interns without knowing they need help.

Congrats on your internship! You're being mentored to be Tier 1 lead right away - they see great potential in you! If you have to take ownership, just prepare yourself to the best of your ability!

Don't worry - take deep breath. Remember, they really want you so they'll make sure to give you every opportunity to succeed. Learn, young Jedi, learn!

My experience is only sorta similar as I worked hard as a contractor and got a full-time employment (Desktop/Network Admin/Support). Since I was team lead as a contractor and did pretty good work, they threw me to the wolves rather quickly - mostly by giving me projects that no one else wanted to do. I climbed through our small department pretty quickly and was always with our team lead being introduced to high level executives. Business is about money and not about friends - they pick people they want to move up into leadership positions immediately.

@networknewb I had an interview with them...

They actually said you will have no one to go to in the interview? That seems a little crazy

lol sounds good! I'm sure you'll do you fine. Your first IT help desk job requires you to learn ALOT on the job. I know at my last job when we hired interns I really didn't expect them to know much, if anything. When/If you go to different companies you will find out that every company does stuff different.

Just remember Google is your friend! Best of luck!
