    Maybe, but it is as you said... there could be many other factors. I've seen those positions with lower numbers also. Just think of it as a motivator.

    That's average pay in the SF Bay Area and Washington DC Metro Area. 150k starting packages for staff engineers; 180k+ for managers. VMware certs are well worth it - just like JNCIA-Junos (only entry-level cert to average close to 100k nationally)
