I think last time they were released shortly after the exam went GAMy own knowledge base made public: http://open902.com -
OptionsGSXRules Member Posts: 109Is the Foundation beta the same as the VCP-6DCV?
No, Foundation is a pre-req for VCP6-DCV if you do not have a VCP already.
No VCP? Foundation (2V0-620) + 2V0-621
VCP already? 2V0-621 or 2V0-621D (Delta)

OptionsEssendon Member Posts: 4,546 ■■■■■■■■■■Yeah something was definitely mentioned about this elite status. Bragging rights, no more..

Optionstomtom1 Member Posts: 375Nice HOL for the VCP6-DCV is HOL-SDC-1429 about an introduction to VVOLs. Basically, VVOLs are the new generation of policy driven storage, revolving around the VMDK rather than a LUN. An implementation of VVOL basically resolves around 3 things, the VP plugin (for VASA), the Storage Provider (SP) and the Protocol Endpoints (storage devices)

Optionsjibbajabba Member Posts: 4,317 ■■■■■■■■□□Is there a timeframe required in regards to taking the 621 exam? I'm planning on taking Foundation Exam the week before the second one.
Likely depends on how quick VUE updates their systems after passing and how long until VMware does the same. I think results are being submitted midnight and VMware takes a few days.
Having said that. I can imagine it is similar to the course requirement. You can take the exam without the course so you could probably sit 621 even without the result of the foundation in and once the result is in, your VCP status updates.
A guess anyway ...My own knowledge base made public: http://open902.com -
OptionsSixtyCycle Member Posts: 111Authorized for the Beta Exams. Except, when I log in to PearsonVue, I get an error stating that the exam is currently not available.
Pretty cool thing, If you have sat any of the 5.x courses, but have not received a VCP cert, you are eligible to just sit the "What's New".
Can you post the link for this info? I did the ICM course last December and is scheduled for the 5.5 exam next week. If this is the case I will cancel my exam. -

I assume it means that if I sat the Stanly course, but no exams, I can just sit the Path 2 and then sit my "What's New" course. -

No ETA.Is there a timeframe required in regards to taking the 621 exam? I'm planning on taking Foundation Exam the week before the second one.
No time frame I know of. You won't get your results back for a month or two and may need to communicate with certification@vmware.com (assuming you pass both exams and meet the training requirement) to get the VCP6-DCV rewarded.Where it says "Path 2" https://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=64178&ui=www_cert That is how I interpreted it.

vSphere ICM version 5.x + What's New 6.x + 2V0-620 (Foundation exam) + 2V0-621 = VCP6-DCV -

OptionsEssendon Member Posts: 4,546 ■■■■■■■■■■So when are your betas booked for?
Mine's on the 27th of May, though I might bring it forward. A colleague will take his a day before. -

OptionsEssendon Member Posts: 4,546 ■■■■■■■■■■What topics are you seasoned folks focusing on? Anything in particular at all? Most things are still the same, I hope they dont ask about too many maximums given this is a beta or beta delta. Apart from the new Certificate Services model in 6.0, I dont know what else to focus on. <not cocky here>

Optionskj0 Member Posts: 767From the twitter post I saw the other day (Can't remember who) there was mention of about 50% CLI. but that was for the Delta. I might not experience that much,

OptionsEssendon Member Posts: 4,546 ■■■■■■■■■■I have a few links for Certificate Services, thought I'd post them in this thread.

2. What's New in vSphere 6.0: Certificate Management - WoodITWork.com
3. Ather Beg's Useful Thoughts – vSphere 6: VMware Certificate Authority (VMCA): Design Decisions

There are a few VMware videos about this too, but a couple of the above links do a better job than those videos. -
Optionssratakhin Member Posts: 818I checked in my area (Philippines) and the exam is available until May 27, costs $50. Might take it earlier just in case it's more difficult than expected.

OptionsEssendon Member Posts: 4,546 ■■■■■■■■■■Keep in mind you can do it once only, the beta that is.
-
OptionsEssendon Member Posts: 4,546 ■■■■■■■■■■I brought my test forward, next Wednesday it is for me. Been furiously going through the blueprint past few days, hoping to keep the momentum going over the weekend and early next week.
-
OptionsEssendon Member Posts: 4,546 ■■■■■■■■■■Got back from the testing center, quick review for now:
- NOT easy, you NEED to know stuff
- 3 inch-deep-mile-wide knowledge needed, note I said 3 inch deep..
- numerous ambiguous questions
- terrible grammar
- cant leave comments (I wrote the beta so should've been able to leave comments at the end of test or every question)
- VCAP-DCA, or what will be the VCIX, easier, for sure
- otherwise fair exam, got questions from just about every topic, no one thing was asked more than others
For anyone else preparing or thinking of this, you BETTER study real hard! You've been forewarned. I'll do a longer post tonight over on my blog if anyone's interested. -
OptionsSurge Member Posts: 26 ■□□□□□□□□□Essendon thanks for keeping us updated, I was hoping you would post after taking it.
I have it scheduled in a few weeks and have been debating rather I had been taking enough time recently on preparing and doing so properly... I plan to take it either way and see how it goes and im checking out the blog post now!
Thanks. -
