Essendon thanks for keeping us updated, I was hoping you would post after taking it.
I have it scheduled in a few weeks and have been debating rather I had been taking enough time recently on preparing and doing so properly... I plan to take it either way and see how it goes and im checking out the blog post now!

    Thanks.

Yeah no worries! When preparing ensure you pay attention to detail. Know which setting does what. You may go - oh, I doubt they'll ask anything about this - whoops, no, they did!

You won't know for a few weeks / months .. Beta's never give you the result straight away ..

Ah... Didn't realize it was still Beta.

I am sure I'll fail the Delta. Been too busy with projects and the evenings are dedicated to my baby boy. I barely know how to spell vSphere 6 ;)

You'll be right mate! Spending time with your newborn is surely WAAAYYY more fun than preparing for a VCP.

Done the Foundation. Faily simple if you have done previous exams and have read through the content. Some questions I thought should have been on the Full exam (When compared to the level of majority of questions) but it was good. Has given me a list of sections I need to focus on for the full exam.

Looks like I'm authorized to take the Beta. Unfortunately it closes on 27th. I'll just focus on VCIX. They are easier.

Coming Tuesday for me. Preparations going well for me. My lab is still 5.5 and is powered off since last month, I read a whole two chapters of the Mastering book and I don't think you'd be able to find the documentation of vSphere 6 or even blueprint in my browser history. Will I pass? Well it would be funny, but something tells me I will waste a good 200 miles worth of petrol that day.

Actually I made some progress today. I moved the Mastering vSphere 6 book from one room to another .. That'll do it ...

Well, what an utter nonsense lol ..

Obviously, not having worked with vSphere 6, some questions were just purely guesses. But then there was poor grammar, poor spelling, and some questions were simply confusing .. Double / Triple negatives and whatnot. Either the questins are too American or I am too German or both.

What was most disappointing is the fact that they seem to go back to the VCP3 days. Questions just based on Maximums and some questions to "test if you have worked with the product".

In the VCP3 exam I remember one question :"Which colour does the CDP icon have next to the standard switch".

Now again you see questions like
    Scenario
    TAB 1 | TAB 2 | TAB 3

    Question
    Which tab shows your shoesize

    Answer
    (a) TAB 1
    (b) TAB 2
    (c) TAB 3

I mean really ? I would understand if the requirements were a bit complicated, like where do you find the XYZ, rather than asking about tabs right next to eachother, which takes less than 2 seconds to go through in the real world.

I think personally I am a bit disappointed but gave me the assurance that my gut feeling is correct, I am getting too old for core products exams only. If I fail this one, I will concentrate on the Cloud track and will leave this one alone.

Oh and I know it is a beta so I give them benefit of the doubt, but I really would love to know if some "mistakes" are deliberate to catch you out or whether this is really because someone had fat fingers when typing those.

    Example
    Scenario
You configure a subnet. 192.168.37.0/24 with .1 being the gateway

    Question
    Which Gateway do you configure

    Answers
    (a) Configure 192.168.38.1 as gateway
    (b) Do not configure 192.168.37.1 as gateway
    (c) Your mum

Assuming (c) was utter rubbish and had nothing to do with the quesiton. What is the right answer, (a) or (b). At first glance you'd say (a) - but hang on, the IP is 38.1 and not 37.1 - so that can't be it. Must be (b), right, because (c) - Your mum, has nothing to do with networks.

But (b) says NOT to configure 37.1 .. Mmmm ...

Again, I KNOW it is a Beta and it was dirt cheap, but VMware doesn't even give the option anymore to leave comments so one can just hope someone in VMware proof-reads the lot :)

Yeah exactly my thoughts too (though I wasnt so blunt;)). This was my first beta with VMware, I wonder if all their betas are like this. Someone should've proof-read the test even if it was a beta, some questions seemed to have been written by someone whose first language wasnt English, dubious answer choices and trick questions - I mean come on VMware!

Different result with the Full exam. It focused on a couple of particular topics for me... Was very interesting... but I'm intrigued now.

Anyway... couple of days off and straight into design me thinks! Just have to accept the end result.

But the full exam is nothing to just poke a stick at.

Also, when I did my 5.5 exam it still said beta, but it wasn't.

Full was still Beta. I'm probably using the wrong term for it. DCV (non Foundation/Delta)

I'm Intrigued with the some of the questions that were asked that I had never thought was capable, but at the same time, they had some obvious answers. Just a couple of things I'm interested in researching to see the scalability of it.

Design = VCDX/VCIX Design (Read Read Scott Lowe's design book from cover to cover) I will run over the VCAP DCD blueprint for the time being and also add to my VCDX design plan. (which will end up being for work)
