Starting ICND1 lab question

shocktattooershocktattooer Member Posts: 19 ■□□□□□□□□□
I had planned on taking the 005 Network+ exam and have been studying Meyers 005 exam book as well as videos and I have a good grasp of Network concepts, However I decided that I'm better off putting the $$ into CCNA instead. I just ordered (2) 1841 256/64 routers and I'll probably also add another router either another 1841 or a 2811/2821 but for now its the 2 1841's. So I'm currently looking at switches but not sure if i should I go with (2) 3550's? or maybe a combo of 2960 and 3550?

For CCNA you just need cheap switches. You will learn about layer 3 switches but won't do much with them.

I have a couple 2950 as well as 3560 and 3750. I mostly used the 2950s for my labs so far.

You could go either way. I don't see one being better than the other. Whichever has the best price is the way to go.

When you're ready for that router, I'd say grab a 2821.

The 2950 switch is dirt cheap. I got one off eBay for $25.00 shipped. If you can get a great price on a 3550 or 3560, then go for that, otherwise the 2950 will do just fine.
